Job summary

Advinia is seeking a motivated Chef to join the catering team at Newcarron Court Care Home. You will work 40 hours per week, preparing meals for Residents, Staff and Visitors and delivering high standards of service.

You’ll cater for events and themed days from World Food Day to Christmas and Easter, bringing your own flair to menus while maintaining excellent quality and cost control. A calm, social, team‑oriented environment offers good work‑life balance with evenings free and two days off

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar environment is preferred.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certification is essential.
  • Ability to plan menus and costings with stock control.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Maintain food storage procedures and stock rotation.
  • Plan and cook meals to high standards, considering dietary requirements.
  • Serve Residents, Staff and Visitors in a professional manner.
  • Prepare foods for events and special occasions.
  • Contribute to food costings and cost control.
  • Follow Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) and HACCP records.
  • Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
  • Assist in creating new menus and ensuring quality.

Become a crucial part of the home team working 40 hours a week, crafting daily meals for our Residents, Staff and Visitors. Dive into food preparation and elevate your role by providing great service.

Here’s the exciting part- our calendar is buzzing with activities, events and special occasions which you'll also cater for. From World Food Day to festive moments like Christmas and Easter, you get to add your own flair and keep things exciting, we have four weekly themed events as well as Resident choice menus.

As a Chef you will be:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. 
  • Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
  • Preparing, planning and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  • Serving Residents, Staff and Visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous services manner.
  • Preparing and producing foods for events.
  • Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  • Adhering to the 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and record keeping.
  • Adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  • Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation
  • Help to create new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality.
  • Correctly filing of all paperwork in relation to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP) i.e. Fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • To be 18 years or older
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
  • Intermediate Food hygiene (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience

You will work alongside the multidisciplinary service to promote great food service.
