Job description

We are looking for an Assistant Chef to join our team at Newark Hill Academy!

The successful applicant will support the Chef Manager, ensuring high standards in catering services. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking meals according to the daily menu and government guidelines, with assistance from catering staff. You will also handle administrative tasks such as food ordering, stock control, and safety logs to meet trust standards.

Working as part of a dedicated team serving pupils, you should demonstrate:

1. Working knowledge of HACCP and Health and Safety in catering.
2. Experience in an educational environment (preferred but not essential).
3. Good organizational skills.
4. Excellent hygiene and safety practices.
5. Strong communication skills.
6. Knowledge of Government Nutritional Standards and Allergy Awareness.

The successful candidate will hold:

• Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
• NVQ Level 2 in Catering and Hospitality or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it.

The role is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 1:45 pm, including a 30-minute unpaid break.
