Job summary

Healthcare Homes Holdings Limited in Stowmarket is seeking an Assistant Chef to join the Hillcroft House kitchen team, supporting nutritious meals for residents and stepping in for the Head Chef as needed.

City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential, with training available through our Academy, plus benefits and progression opportunities in Food Production.

Qualifications

• Experience in working in a professional kitchen.
• Good organisational skills.
• Knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Deliver nutritious, high-quality dishes.
• Manage stock control.
• Assist in leading and motivating a team.
• Support weekly menu planning, ordering and minimising wastage.

Assistant Chef

Hillcroft House, Stowmarket

£13.50 per hour

Bank shifts - covering annual leave and sickness

If you are kind, compassionate and committed, we would love for you to join our kitchen team in our lovely care home, Hillcroft House, catering for 42 residents.

What would a typical day look like?

• Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
• Work to deliver nutritious and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
• Support the Head Chef with writing and planning weekly menus, ordering as well as keeping wastage to a minimum.

The successful candidate will have experience in working in a professional kitchen, have good organisational skills and knowledge of good kitchen practices and food hygiene standards. City and Guilds or NVQ qualifications are preferred but not essential as they can be provided through our Academy.
