Bupa's Alveston Leys Care Home in Alveston is hiring an Assistant Chef to join our dedicated kitchen team. This permanent, 30-hour-per-week role includes alternate weekend shifts and a welcome bonus.

You will prepare varied, nutritionally balanced meals that respect dietary needs and create a home-from-home dining experience for residents. You'll bring a passion for fresh cooking, experience in a fresh food kitchen, and hygiene certifications.

Qualifications

• A passion for cooking with previous experience working in a fresh food kitchen and relevant hygiene certificates.
• You want to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal and make our residents feel at home.
• Open to new ideas, you'll have an innovative approach to cooking whilst always adhering to high standards.
• You'll enjoy communicating with others and you'll cherish the little moments with our residents, sharing your love of food with them.

Responsibilities

• Using your passion for cooking and fresh ingredients to create varied and nutritional menus in line with dietary needs and preferences of our residents
• Putting forward ideas to deliver an excellent dining experience, helping our residents to feel at home
• Training and managing the kitchen team in prepping, cooking and serving of food
• Adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures, budgets, managing orders and deliveries
• Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required)
