Job description

Job Title: SEN (Special Educational Needs) Assistant Case Officer

We are seeking to recruit a SEN (Special Educational Needs) Assistant Case Officer. The successful candidate will work as part of the SEND team and deliver the statutory duties relating to special educational needs and disability.

We are recruiting for a full-time, permanent position to support the coordination and lead Case Officers with managing Education, Health and Care (EHC) Assessment plans for children and young people with SEND.

As a good all-round communicator, you will join a supportive team, where you will be trained and supported to develop. We provide a high-quality and effective range of services for children with SEND. This is a challenging, fast-paced, and interesting role within a busy environment.

You will be part of a service whose overarching aim is to make a positive and measurable difference to the outcomes of children and young people with SEND aged 0 to 25.

About You
  1. Experience working with Special Educational Needs and Disability, with a good understanding of relevant legislation.
  2. Genuine interest in SEN, Equality, and Diversity, with a desire to make a positive impact.
  3. High resilience and ability to work as part of a team to inspire, support, and challenge others.
  4. Strong organisational skills and experience in meeting deadlines.
  5. Excellent administration skills and ability to manage a varying and demanding workload.
  6. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, capable of remaining calm and negotiating effectively face-to-face, in writing, or verbally, maintaining professionalism.
  7. Understanding of joint agency working with various professionals.
  8. Positive, solution-focused approach to meeting children’s individual needs, with the ability to manage competing priorities sensitively while maintaining professional relationships.
  9. Compassionate with genuine empathy and understanding of differing viewpoints.
  10. Good transferable computer skills, experienced in using Word, Excel, and other database systems.
