Job summary

Barr Beacon School in Aldridge, Walsall (WS9 0RF) is seeking an Assistant Caretaker to join the Site team on a 37-hour, Monday–Friday pattern. The role involves security, cleanliness, maintenance and safety of the premises and wider site, with duties such as moving furniture and opening/closing the school.

The successful candidate will be physically capable, a strong team player and ready to handle unforeseen issues safely and professionally. DBS checks apply on appointment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Site team at the Academy to ensure security, cleanliness, maintenance and safety of the premises and wider site.
• Carry out duties such as portage, moving furniture and equipment around the school, opening and closing the site.
• Assist with general site tasks and respond to day-to-day site requirements.

Salary: £25,315 Start Date: September 2026

The role:

Barr Beacon are seeking to appoint an Assistant Caretaker to support the Site team at the Academy.

The role will include ensuring the security, cleanliness, maintenance and safety of the premises, building facilities, and the wider site. The successful candidate will be required to complete tasks such as portage duties, moving furniture and equipment around the school and opening and closing the school site.

About you:

To be successful for the role, the candidate will have the below experience and skills:

• Able to complete all physical requirements of the role e.g. lifting furniture, standing for long period of times;
• Be an effective team worker;
• Have a friendly, professional and respectful approach which demonstrates support and a commitment to providing a quality service;
• Able to solve problems and respond to unforeseen circumstances e.g. hazards, accidents.
