Job summary

Tesco is seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join the Fish Buying team on a 12 month maternity cover. You will own key shellfish categories from concept to shelf, using customer insight, market trends and supplier partnerships to create commercially successful ranges that drive growth and value for customers.

You will work with Own Label Natural Work Teams and senior stakeholders, shaping the shellfish proposition and delivering on KPI targets while balancing sustainable supplier

• Experience in buying and range management in a food/fresh category.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities.
• Data-driven approach to trend analysis and trading decisions.
• Proven ability to plan, execute and evaluate promotions and events.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to ensure the Shellfish category has a long term customer-led plan.
• Visit stores and websites, review customer insights to shape ranges.
• Source customer/market insight led ranges and product innovation.
• Negotiate with suppliers to improve trading position sustainably.
• Own shellfish raw material buying model and related processes.
• Deliver department trade, promotions and events plans to exceed KPIs.
• Collaborate with Tesco Business Services and Supply Chain to ensure timely product availability.
• Coordinate artwork, POS, and ensure compliance with policies and training.

We are on the lookout for an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our Fish Buying team, you'll take ownership of key product categories from concept to shelf. Using customer insight, market trends and supplier partnerships, you'll help create exciting, commercially successful ranges that drive category growth and deliver great value for our customers. Working closely with Own Label Natural Work Teams, you'll gain exposure to senior stakeholders and play a key role in shaping our Shellfish proposition.

Please note, this is a 12 month Maternity Cover.

• Providing support to ensure my category has a long term, customer led plan which drives loyalty.
• Conducting regular store/website visits and reviewing customer insight and trends, helping shape our future product and range requirements for our customers.
• Helping to build and source customer/market insight led ranges and product innovation.
• Negotiating with suppliers, improving the trading position in a sustainable way.
• Ownership of Shellfish raw material buying model.
• Delivering my department's trade, promotions/marketing and events plan, striving to exceed KPI forecasts and drive footfall.
• Supporting Tesco Business Services and Supply Chain, helping to get our products in all channels on time.
• Working with suppliers and the category quality team to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained.
• Loading Commercial Income and ensuring our suppliers are invoiced correctly, managing over-charge, under-charges and aged debt on a weekly basis.
• Briefing, developing and managing all artwork and POS and managing GHS set up.
• Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and handover protocols and successfully completing all training.
