Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Buying Manager to lead the Ready Meals sourcing in a dynamic retail environment. You will source, negotiate and buy high-quality products, building a top team of Assistant Buyers and Trainee Buyers while driving value, range and price for customers.

You will manage supplier relationships, analyze data, forecast budgets, and contribute to the Move Plan. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a hybrid working model.

• Build a best-in-class long-term sourcing plan aligned to the Sell and Move plan and leveraging Tesco scale.
• Find, develop and manage suppliers to deliver propositions and targets while ensuring quality.
• Effectively manage commodity and currency risk and negotiate a sustainable market position.
• Support the trade, promotions and events plan through sourcing efficiency and KPI delivery.
• Forecast and manage budgets; deliver quantum profit targets and stay cost-conscious.
• Support Move Plan to get products to store on time and cost-effectively.

We are on the lookout for a Buying Manager to join our Ready Meals team here at Tesco. You will source and buy great quality products, giving our customers the best offer, range and prices available. You will lead and develop my team of Assistant Buyers and Trainee Buyers.

• Building a best in class, long term sourcing plan that is aligned to the Sell and Move plan and that uses our scale competitively.
• Finding, developing and managing suppliers, to deliver our customer propositions and our joint business targets whilst ensuring that product quality is achieved & maintained.
• Effectively managing commodity and currency risk and negotiating a sustainable, market leading commercial position.
• Supporting my department’s trade, promotions and events plan, through sourcing efficiently, striving to exceed KPI forecasts and drive footfall.
• Forecasting and managing my budgets effectively. Delivering quantum profit targets. Always being cost conscious.
• Supporting the Move Plan, ensuring we get our products to store efficiently, cost effectively and on time.
• Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best.
• Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and hand-over protocols and successfully completing all my training so that I have zero GSCOP breaches. Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt, and leading a culture of compliance within my team.
• Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
