Job summary

Babcock Vehicle Engineering in Walsall is seeking an Assistant Buyer / Operational Procurement Associate to support end-to-end procurement activities in a fast-paced environment.

You'll help convert requirements into purchase orders, monitor deliveries, resolve invoice queries and maintain accurate supplier data within ERP systems, while collaborating with stakeholders across the business. This hybrid role offers career development in procurement and supply chain.

The role

As an Assistant Buyer /Operational Procurement Associate, you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of operational procurement activity within a unique and fast-paced vehicle engineering environment. You'll be at the heart of the supply chain, ensuring critical materials, products and services are available when needed to support operational delivery. Day-to-day, you'll gain exposure to end-to-end procurement processes, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers, and develop valuable skills that can open doors across automotive, defence, engineering and manufacturing industries. You will be:

• Supporting Buyers to deliver efficient procurement and purchasing activities across the business.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home. Standard office hours apply Monday to Thursday with flexible start times between 7am and 9am, with an early finish on Fridays.

Essential experience of the Assistant Buyer / Operational Procurement Associate

• Experience working in a customer-focused or service-driven environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience using procurement, purchasing or enterprise resource planning systems would be advantageous.
