Job summary

Babcock Vehicle Engineering in Walsall, near Birmingham, West Midlands, is seeking an Assistant Buyer / Operational Procurement Associate on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract. The role blends workplace presence with hybrid working patterns, offering exposure to end-to-end procurement in a fast-paced vehicle engineering environment.

You will support Buyers, convert requirements into POs, monitor overdue orders, resolve invoice issues, and maintain supplier data across ERP systems,

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer-focused or service-driven environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience using procurement, purchasing or enterprise resource planning systems would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support Buyers to deliver efficient procurement and purchasing activities across the business.
• Process material and purchasing demands, converting requirements into purchase orders for suppliers.
• Monitor overdue orders and proactively liaise with suppliers to maintain delivery performance.
• Resolve invoice queries and supplier delivery issues to ensure smooth operational performance.
• Maintain accurate procurement and supplier data within purchasing and ERP systems.
