Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is recruiting a Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join the London & South East team. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment on a range of building surveying duties, gaining experience across public and private sectors.

The role offers APC support, technical training, and supervision to develop technical, professional and project delivery capabilities. You will contribute to condition surveys, reports, project delivery, and contract administration while developing

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying (RICS accredited degree) or equivalent.
• Actively working towards MRICS or equivalent.
• Experience from placements, internships or post-graduate roles.

Responsibilities

• Working across multiple projects in different sectors delivering building surveying duties.
• Undertaking condition surveys, measured surveys, defect diagnosis and technical due diligence.
• Preparing professional reports, schedules of work, specifications and technical drawings.
• Assisting with Project Management and Contract Administration across sectors.
• Supporting pre- and post-contract activities under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects within your experience level.
• Supporting refurbishment, maintenance and small-to-medium capital projects.
• Contributing to sustainability and building safety assessments including CDM 2015 and Building Safety Act.
• Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Our Building Surveying Practice continues to grow, and we are seeking a Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join our London & South East team. You’ll operate within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, delivering a wide range of Building Surveying services to a diverse client base including public sector, private sector, education, defence, central government and infrastructure organisations.

This role offers excellent career progression potential for individuals working towards Chartership, with strong ambitions to develop technical, professional and project delivery capabilities within a forward‑thinking consultancy. You will benefit from our structured APC programme, technical training sessions, an assigned Supervisor and Counsellor, and access to industry‑leading digital tools and methodologies.

Your role

Technical & Professional Services

• Working across a number of projects in different sectors and providing a range of building surveying duties.
• Undertaking condition surveys, measured surveys, defect diagnosis and technical due diligence ; maintaining awareness of industry developments and best practice.
• Preparing professional reports, schedules of work, specifications and technical drawings.

Project Delivery

• Assisting with Project Management and Contract Administration across a range of sectors.
• Supporting pre‑and post‑contract activities under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects appropriate to your experience and competency level.
• Supporting the design and delivery of refurbishment, maintenance and small‑to‑medium capital projects.
• Contributing to sustainability and building safety assessments, including compliance with CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.

Client & Team Collaboration

• Helping to maintain strong client relationships and ensuring high‑quality service delivery, with support from senior colleagues where required.
• Participating in team knowledge-sharing, CPD and professional development activities.
• Contributing to quality assurance, best practice initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Understanding the principles of quality, health and safety, and environmental management within project delivery.

About you

Qualifications & Training

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying (RICS accredited degree) or equivalent.
• Actively working towards professional membership, namely MRICS or equivalent.

Skills & Experience

• A developing foundation of building surveying knowledge, preferably with experience gained through placements, internships or post‑graduate roles.
• Awareness of design and construction processes, building pathology, statutory compliance and project delivery, particularly in refurbishment and extension projects.
• Experience delivering pre‑and post‑contract project management activities.
• Understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.
• An awareness of the application of standard forms of building contracts (e.g. JCT and NEC).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit or digital surveying tools is advantageous.
• Experience in sectors such as education, local authorities, healthcare, central government or infrastructure is desirable.
