Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Building Surveyor to join the Southampton team, working on Defence, Blue Light, Education and housing projects. You will build client relationships, apply JCT/NEC contracts, and manage surveys, inspections and schedules across varied schemes.

You’ll mentor junior staff, uphold quality, safety and statutory compliance, and benefit from a flexible hybrid working culture with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold a B.Sc. (Hons) in Building Surveying or an equivalent RICS-accredited degree.
• Strong technical surveying knowledge and substantial building surveying experience.
• Experience managing clients with profitability and business development awareness.
• Proficient in drafting technical documents including asset reviews, feasibility studies, specs and drawings.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety and statutory compliance.
• Excellent time management, punctuality and job completion focus.
• Willingness to learn and support colleagues' development.
• Ability to foster a positive, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a range of building surveying duties across multiple regional projects.
• Apply standard contracts (JCT and NEC) to projects and manage portfolios.
• Ensure quality, safety and environmental considerations in survey, design and management.

Your purpose will be to work alongside our existing building surveying team in Southampton, working on Defence, Blue Light, Education and housing projects. With project values ranging from £10k - £3million. Our work is varied and it is an exciting time to join a growing team.

Your role

• Working across several regional projects in different sectors, providing a range of building surveying duties.
• Using and applying standard forms of building contract, such as JCT and NEC.
• Understanding the principles of quality, safety and the environment in survey, design and management of projects and portfolios.
• Line management, mentoring and training Junior Building Surveying staff.
• Supporting the senior managers in their day-to-day activities.
• Carrying out surveys, inspections, schedules, provide professional services and managing regional schemes.

About you

• A B.Sc. (Hons) in Building Surveying or a similar RICS accredited degree.
• Sound technical surveying knowledge and significant building surveying experience.
• Experience managing clients with a strong understanding of profitability, business development and sound commercial awareness.
• Sound knowledge drafting technical documents, including asset reviews, feasibility studies, specifications, and drawings.
• A full understanding of Health and Safety requirementsand Statutory Compliance.
• Excellent time management, punctuality, and commitment to getting the job done.
