Job summary

Roofing Gear, part of the Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG), is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager at the Yeovil branch to drive sales and support branch operations in a fast-paced roofing merchant environment.

You will lead a team, manage stock and supplier orders, and build strong relationships with roofing contractors and trade customers while delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a roofing merchant, builders' merchant, or construction supplies environment.
• Proven customer service and sales experience.
• Experience supervising or managing a team.
• Ability to build long-term relationships with trade customers.
• Hands-on approach with willingness to support all areas of the branch.

Responsibilities

• Support the Branch Manager in day-to-day running of the branch.
• Lead, motivate, and develop branch colleagues.
• Serve roofing contractors and trade customers on counter and over the phone.
• Drive branch sales and help achieve performance targets.
• Build strong relationships with roofing professionals and key customers.
• Manage stock levels and supplier orders.
• Ensure excellent product availability and customer service.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient branch environment.
• Provide Branch Manager cover during absences.
• Assist with yard duties and loading materials when required.

Roofing Gear, part of the Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG), is a specialist roofing merchant serving professional roofing contractors and trade customers across the South.

We're looking for an experienced Assistant Branch Manager to join our Yeovil branch and play a key role in driving sales, supporting branch operations, and delivering outstanding customer service within a fast-paced roofing merchant environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of the branch
• Leading, motivating, and developing branch colleagues
• Serving roofing contractors and trade customers on the counter and over the phone
• Driving branch sales and helping achieve performance targets
• Building strong relationships with roofing professionals and key customers
• Managing stock levels and supplier orders
• Ensuring excellent product availability and customer service
• Maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient branch environment
• Providing Branch Manager cover during periods of absence
• Assisting with yard duties and loading materials when required

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience within a Roofing Merchant, Roofing Supplies, Builders Merchant, or Construction Supplies environment
• Strong knowledge of roofing products and materials is highly desirable
• Experience supervising, leading, or managing a team
• Proven customer service and sales experience
• Ability to build long-term relationships with trade customers
• Organised, proactive, and commercially minded
• A hands-on approach with a willingness to support all areas of the branch

Working Hours

Week 1 Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 5:00pm

Week 2 Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 5:00pm Saturday: 8:00am - 12:00pm (alternate Saturdays)
