V.Ships Leisure is seeking an Assistant Bar Manager on behalf of Orient Express Sailing Yachts. Based aboard luxury vessels, you will support the Bar Manager in supervising the multi-site bar department and day-to-day operations to enhance service and profitability.

Role requires upholding USPH protocols, training staff, and maintaining Orient Express’ high service standards while ensuring grooming and teamwork across departments on board.

Qualifications

• Fluent English plus one additional international language required.
• High school degree or hospitality-related training; STCW certificates.
• Shipboard experience preferred but not required.

Assistant Bar Manager for Orient Express Sailing Yachts

V.Ships Leisure is looking for Assistant Bar Manager on behalf of Orient Express Sailing Yachts.

Alongside the Bar Manager, you will be managing and supervising the multi-site Bar department and assisting with the day-to-day operation of the department. You will be instrumental in defining the bar department’s service philosophy, improving sales and profitability and mitigating guests’ complaints. You will also be responsible for ensuring that company standards are followed as per the beverage operations manual.

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for the respect of USPH protocols at all bars. Follows the US Public Health self inspection requirements and is familiar with sanitation procedures.

• Trains and supervises staff on a permanent basis in order that they perform their duties in a proper manner.
• Introduces new crew members to their working areas and to the rules and regulations on board.
• Establishes Work Schedules for the staff and plans their duties accordingly.
• Establishes a good working spirit and is co-operative with all other departments.
• Interacts with Guests in a friendly manner, show a helpful attitude at all times, always have a smile and be courteous and pleasant, reflective of Orient Express’ standards of service.
• Communicates with his/her superior routinely. Participates to meetings as directed.
• Active participation in onboard training programs..
• Additional duties, not mentioned here, will be expected as per management request.
• Attain target KPI’s, any deviation of target is required to have an explanation with plan to reach goal.
• KPI’s will be measured on Guest & Crew Satisfaction; goals and expectations will be defined by Orient Express shore management.
• KPI’s are used as a measure for performance.
• Demonstrate a professional, elegant and consistent behavior towards Guests and Crew, reflecting Orient Express’ levels of service.
• Pro-active, problem-solving attitude to excel in the delivery of their assigned tasks and duties.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a team of high-level professionals.
• Adheres to perfect grooming and uniform standards consistently (shaving, body odor, appropriate hair style with no non-natural color, no excessive jewelry, clean hands, clean/pressed uniform as per standard).
• Lead by example: The Assistant Bar Manager is an ambassador of Orient Express’ work philosophy and demonstrates a congenial yet effective management style, treating crew members with respect and fairness at all times.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

• Fluent English plus one additional international language required (French, German, Spanish, Mandarin).
• High school degree or related. Hospitality training appreciated.
• Previous professional experience: 2 – 3 years as bar manager / assistant bar manager / Bartender in a luxury environment.
• Shipboard experience: Not required but preferred.
• Valid STCW certificates .
• Valid Pre-Employment Medical.
• C1D visa mandatory for all positions.
