The Structures Route Asset Management team is responsible for the safe and effective management of a diverse portfolio of structures across the East Midlands Route, including bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and culverts. Working as part of the wider Asset Management function, the team plays a vital role in ensuring the railway remains safe, reliable and available for passengers and freight operators.
The team works closely with colleagues across maintenance, renewals, operations and project delivery to ensure assets are managed effectively throughout their lifecycle. With ongoing investment in the railway infrastructure, the team contributes directly to delivering a safe, sustainable and efficient railway for customers and communities across the region.
This role is central to the day to day safety of the bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and culverts in the East Midlands Route. By helping the Asset Engineers manage these assets there is the opportunity to gain diverse asset management skills and structures knowledge through the varied construction types and materials that are in day to day use. The post is based at the Derby Control Centre.

The ideal candidate would have a relevant engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline, and hold Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or be working towards professional registration. They will have experience within the railway industry and/or asset management, with a sound understanding of engineering and asset management principles. The successful candidate will be competent in the use of IT systems, including Microsoft Office and asset management software, and be confident in using digital tools to support decision-making and business processes. They will demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to learning, with a willingness to develop new skills, embrace new technologies, and adapt to changing business and engineering requirements .
Salary: circa £29,000 per annum.
