Job summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the Finance team and work closely with the Head of Finance. The role is office based, and you will be trusted to handle critical accounting tasks with accuracy and pride.

You’ll own day‑to‑day and month‑end activities, including accruals, journals, reconciliations, VAT, and reporting, plus assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash control. The ideal candidate is organised, reliable and comfortable working independently while

Qualifications

• Solid experience in accounting roles, with competence in reconciliations, journals and month-end processes.
• Familiarity with VAT, cash controls and financial reporting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Calculating and posting monthly accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other journals
• Maintaining the fixed asset register and hire purchase schedules
• Managing month-end stock control and valuation
• Completing balance sheet and bank reconciliations
• Preparing, monitoring and sharing departmental cost centre reports
• Managing cash books, petty cash and the daily cash flow schedule
• Managing our invoice financing facility
• Processing international payments and monthly currency revaluations
• Preparing and submitting quarterly UK VAT returns
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial controls
