Assistant Accountant - Maritime Technology and Intelligence

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our global finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with some commercial experience to develop their career in a dynamic, international environment. You will support financial reporting, reconciliations, and key finance operations while gaining exposure to a broad range of accounting tasks, providing an excellent platform for growth within a global finance team and international accounting practices.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with purchase ledger tasks, processing invoices, and bi-weekly payment runs. Serve as the primary contact for all suppliers.
  • Support balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts weekly.
  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Help prepare VAT returns and tax filings across different jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to the annual audit process by liaising with auditors and gathering necessary documentation.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal financial controls.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance finance function efficiency.
Requirements
  • Part-qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Some commercial finance experience, ideally in a fast-paced or global environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (experience with SAP is advantageous but not required).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across different time zones.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance or a related field.
