Job summary

Confidential is seeking an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant for a 6-month temporary assignment based in Preston. You will support the Finance Manager with day-to-day finance tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of invoices, reconciliations and reporting.

The role offers a competitive salary and on-site parking, with an immediate start and a full-time office-based setup in Preston.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have prior accounts experience in an Assistant Accountant/Accounts Assistant role.
• Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and reconciliations is essential.
• Experience supporting month-end processes is required.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills are important.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proactive and positive approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase ledger invoices and investigate queries.
• Assist with sales ledger and credit control activities.
• Carry out bank reconciliations and cash allocations.
• Prepare payment runs.
• Assist with month-end processes including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support management accounts.
• Maintain accurate records and reports and liaise with internal departments and suppliers.
• Provide general finance and administrative support as required.
