Job summary

Reed is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team in St Helens. This office-based role offers exposure to transactional finance and month-end accounting duties, with full training provided.

You will support monthly management accounts, maintain ledgers, perform reconciliations, and assist with payroll, cash flow, and supplier/customer activities. A supportive, established organisation awaits the successful candidate.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or Finance Assistant role.
• Strong understanding of purchase ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the production of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Maintain purchase ledger and sales ledger activities, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end procedures.
• Support payroll administration, cash flow monitoring and payment runs.
• Work closely with operational teams across the business, providing financial and administrative support where required.
