Job summary

A modern, cloud-focused accountancy practice in Sheffield is looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to its growing team. The firm has a very flexible approach to how and where people work, with a relaxed but professional culture and a strong focus on using technology to provide an efficient service to clients.

You will join an established accounts team and take responsibility for a varied portfolio, including a significant client operating within the property and construction sector.

Qualifications

• Previous CIS experience is essential.
• Confident user of Xero.
• AAT qualification or studying towards completion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day to day accounting for a portfolio of clients.
• Take ownership of work from initial records to completion.
• Prepare year end accounts for owner-managed businesses.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Handle CIS accounting and compliance requirements.
• Work with Xero and other cloud accounting systems.
• Respond to client queries and maintain regular contact.
• Build strong relationships with a key property/construction client.
• Assist with payroll requirements with training available.
• Collaborate with bookkeeping and accounts colleagues across the team.
