We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant Apprentice to join our professional and supportive finance team at G&H Ilminster. This structured 18-month apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for individuals seeking to develop a long-term career in accountancy.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting functions while studying towards a recognised qualification through Richard Huish College. This programme is designed to build both your technical capability and interpersonal skills, offering real exposure to how finance operates within a global business.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an integral part of the finance team, you will:

· Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports

· Conduct regular ledger reviews and account reconciliations

· Support the implementation of finance policies and internal controls

· Help maintain and analyse standard costs, investigating variances where needed

· Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation

· Support a variety of day-to-day financial operations and administrative tasks

· Contribute ideas to support continuous improvement in the finance function

Ideal candidates will have the following;

· GCSE or equivalent English (Grade C/4) essential

· GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade C/4) essential

· Achieved / Working towards A level or equivalent qualifications

· Strong numeracy and analytical skills, and be proficient in MS Excel
