Job summary

TPF Recruitment is assisting a small, relaxed and friendly chartered accounts firm in West Malling with the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming practice that provides an enjoyable working environment and exposure to accounts, tax and general practice work across Kent.

The role can be tailored around your experience, with support to develop your technical knowledge and progress within the practice, and options for full-time or part-time

Qualifications

• Studying towards the AAT qualification, with consideration for qualified by experience.
• Experience in an accountancy practice is preferred.
• Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and taxation.
• Strong communication skills and organisational abilities.
• Friendly, positive and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies.
• Prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
• Prepare personal tax returns.
• Prepare VAT returns.
• Bookkeeping and management accounts.
• Support with general client queries and ad hoc advisory work.
• As experience grows, take on greater responsibility with clients.

TPF Recruitment is supporting a small, relaxed and extremely friendly firm of chartered accountants in West Malling with the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant.

The position can be tailored around the successful candidate’s experience and aspirations. You will receive plenty of support and the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while progressing within the practice.

Responsibilities

You will support the preparation of:

• Statutory accounts for limited companies
• Accounts for sole traders and partnerships
• Personal tax returns
• VAT returns
• Bookkeeping and management accounts
• Supporting with general client queries and ad hoc advisory work

As your experience develops, you will be given greater responsibility for managing assignments and building relationships with clients.

Requirements

You may be studying towards the AAT qualification, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice
• Experience preparing accounts for owner managed businesses
• A good understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and taxation
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A friendly, positive and professional approach
