Job description

Adapro Talent Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering with a growing PE Backed organisation who are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant into their high performing finance team. It is a very exciting time to be joining this Northampton based business as they are going through a rapid period of global expansion.

The Assistant Accountant will report into the UK Finance Manager and they will support the financial accounting and reporting for the UK entities and all international operations across the USA, Canada and Australia. They will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet through timely, detailed monthly reconciliations, and for providing all the analysis that underpins the monthly management accounts. The Assistant Accountant will need to develop strong working relationships across finance, the Private Equity parent group, and operational stakeholders, raising any issues early and helping to drive continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Reconciliations:

Balance Sheet Reconciliations:

  • Prepare detailed balance sheet account reconciliations by WD10 monthly for all UK entities and all international operations, investigating and resolving variances and escalating unresolved items to the relevant Finance Manager.

  • Prepare intercompany reconciliations between group entities to support the monthly consolidation, ensuring balances agree and differences are investigated and cleared.

  • Reconcile bank, VAT, US Sales Tax and other tax control accounts to supporting returns and payments, assisting the Finance Managers in ensuring tax balances are accurate and payments are made on time.

  • Support the accounts payable function with the regular reconciliation of supplier statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

  • Ensure costs not yet invoiced are accurately accrued at month end and that carriage charges are correctly recharged to clients.

  • Report monthly on reconciliation results, including the financial impact on carriage costs and margin, recovered credits and recurring issues, to both Finance Managers.

Cash Reconciliation:

  • Maintain the 13 week rolling cash forecast, updating weekly cash receipts and payments against expectations. Work closely with the Finance Managers, AR & AP teams to forecast future cash inflows and outflows for presentation to the Global FD.

Analysis & Reporting:

Financial Analysis:

  • Assist with the monthly analysis of revenue and margin variances against budget and forecast for UK and international operations, preparing supporting schedules.

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly operational KPIs and margin analysis and update all territory dashboards.

  • Collaborate with the Finance Managers and Operations team to monitor agency labour resource and overtime usage.

Reporting:

  • Assist in ensuring the timely delivery of financial information required by territory, contributing to the Group Board pack.

  • Prepare reconciliations, schedules and supporting documentation for the year-end audit and tax computations and help resolve auditor queries promptly.

Controls & Process Improvement:

  • Operate internal controls within UK and international operations to safeguard assets, mitigate risk and protect margin, flagging control weaknesses to the Finance Managers.

  • Document reconciliation and analysis procedures and continuously look for ways to systemise and automate them using NetSuite and spreadsheet tools so that they scale in line with company growth.

The successful Candidate will be AAT Qualified or Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA studier with 1-3 years' experience in a finance role that includes balance sheet reconciliations. They will possess the ability to work in a fast paced, growing business, and have advanced level spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets) and experience of using Netsuite or a similar ERP system.
