We are partnered with an Engineering client who are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part or fully qualified finance professional (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) who is looking to build on their experience in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will support day-to-day financial operations, contribute to month-end reporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial records. This role offers exposure to a range of accounting tasks and the opportunity to grow within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
Supporting the preparation of VAT/GST returns and ensuring compliance.
Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating variances.
Providing documentation and support for internal and external audits.
Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
Liaising with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries.
Supporting the wider finance team with reporting and administrative tasks.

Candidate Requirements:

Full or part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or similar.
Previous experience in a finance or accounting role.
Solid understanding of VAT and multicurrency accounting.
Experience working in professional services or consultancy is desirable.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
