Join to apply for the Assistant Accountant role at Jordan Disposal Service/Gator Industrial

Marks Sattin are working with a PE-backed business in Kirkstall, Leeds, to present an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to manage day-to-day finance operations. You will be the sole finance person onsite but fully integrated into the wider finance team, reporting directly to the Group Head of Finance and working closely with the CEO.

This role offers up to £35,000, hybrid working (2 days from home), and study support (AAT/ACCA/CIMA). It is ideal for someone enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to grow within a fast-paced environment, preferably with SME experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Ownership of daily finance operations
• Processing accounts payable and payments
• Managing accounts receivable, invoicing, and credit control
• Bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
• Payroll processing and liaising with external providers
• Month-end closing, accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
• Monitoring cash flow and forecasting
• Supporting internal financial reporting
• Assisting external advisors (auditors, tax advisors)
• Collaborating with the CEO on financial support for daily operations
• Supporting finance projects and reporting as the group expands

About You

• Experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role within an SME or multi-site environment
• Proficiency with accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
• Strong reconciliation skills with high attention to detail
• Experience with Sage 50 and/or Xero preferred
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
• Solid understanding of accounting principles
• Payroll management experience is a plus
