Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking to recruit Assistant Accountant to join our team based in Ipswich, Suffolk. The position is available on a full-time (37 hours per week), permanent basis. The successful candidates will earn a competitive salary of £30,559 - £35,235 per annum (pro rata for part-time).
Full-time, part-time, and job share opportunities will be considered.

You will be joining our Finance Team at an exciting time as we aim to transform our services and enhance financial performance.
The Assistant Accountant will support the Financial Control team in delivering the Statement of Accounts (SOA), monthly VAT returns, and treasury activities for both councils. The role includes assisting the Financial Accountant with regulatory and statutory returns and supporting the Collection Fund (Business Rates and Council Tax).
The ideal candidate will be a Part-Qualified Accountant or qualified by experience. You should have an understanding of the financial environment and accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping, accruals, and prepayments. Experience in completing reconciliations and understanding the importance of monthly balance sheet reconciliations is essential. You must be comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment, with attention to detail and a positive outlook.
