Job summary

Vertu Volkswagen Hereford is recruiting an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team. This full‑time, permanent role supports the accountant with spreadsheets and data to aid management decisions. The position includes multitasking across forecasts, estimates, payroll and balance sheet work.

You will work closely with financial and non‑financial colleagues, with a focus on accuracy and timely reporting. Kerridge knowledge is helpful, as is motor trade exposure.

Qualifications

• Experience as Assistant Accountant or similar role.
• Working knowledge of Kerridge accounting system is desirable.
• Motor trade experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with financial and non‑financial colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Produce forecasts.
• Produce estimates.
• Assist with the production of the Management Accounts.
• Handle payroll processes.
• Carry out balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage accruals and prepayments.
• Monitor cash flow.
• Reconcile Manufacturer Bonuses.
• Oversee credit control activities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team in Vertu Volkswagen Hereford.

This is a Full-Time, permanent role where we are offering a basic salary up to £30,000 depending on experience plus an excellent range of company benefits.

You will work alongside the accountant in the production of spreadsheets and statistical data to support the management team, and as an aid to business decisions.

Alongside day-to-day accounts you will also complete the following tasks:

• Forecasts
• Estimates
• Assist with the production of the Management Accounts
• Payroll
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Accruals and Prepayments
• Cash Flow
• Reconciling Manufacturer Bonuses
• Credit Control

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Assistant Accountant, who is looking to take the next step up. A working knowledge of the Kerridge accounting system would be ideal but not essential, as well as previous Motor Trade experience. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with all financial and non-financial colleagues, clients and customers.

We are looking for the following attributes:

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft packages
• Good organisational Skills
• Excellent communication skills.
