A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant for Wirral Council on a temporary full-time contract. The role includes assisting with financial reporting, budget management, and compliance with local government regulations. Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join Wirral Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with financial reporting, budget setting, and forecasting
Supporting the analysis of financial data and trends
Contributing to year-end accounts preparation
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and local government regulations
Helping to improve financial systems and reporting processes
About you:
You will be AAT-qualified (or equivalent) with experience in financial monitoring and reporting. A good understanding of financial management principles, strong Excel skills, and excellent communication abilities are essential. Experience in local government finance is desirable.
