Job summary

Confero Recruitment Group is seeking an Asset Officer to join the Scottish Social Housing Sector on an initial 3-month contract. You will support repairs, voids, planned maintenance, cyclical programmes and tenant safety across regulatory standards.

You will take ownership of day-to-day repairs, inspections and risk assessments, coordinate with contractors, and help manage procurement and asset data to drive value for residents and the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in repairs, maintenance, compliance or asset management within social housing.
• Confidence conducting inspections and managing contractors.
• Understanding of Scottish housing legislation, safety standards and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Manage reactive repairs, voids and cyclical/planned maintenance.
• Conduct inspections, surveys, risk assessments and stock condition surveys.
• Liaise with contractors and external agencies to ensure quality and turnaround.
• Support planned investment programmes and project-manage maintenance contracts.
• Prepare tender documentation and undertake procurement exercises.
• Maintain statutory compliance across all tenant safety areas.
• Monitor budgets, verify invoices and ensure value for money.
• Oversee estate management standards including landscaping and close cleaning.
• Handle first-stage complaints, insurance claims, alterations and adaptations.
• Maintain accurate asset, repairs and compliance records.
• Contribute to policy development, Charter compliance and internal working groups.

Asset Officer – Scottish Social Housing Sector

I am looking for an experienced housing professional to join my clients Asset & Repairs team for an initial 3-month contract, you will assist in the delivery of high‑quality services across repairs, voids, planned maintenance, cyclical programmes and tenant safety. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a operational environment and understands the standards, legislation and expectations of Scotland’s social housing sector.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance activity, ensuring works are instructed, monitored and completed to KPI standards. You’ll carry out inspections, surveys and risk assessments, prioritising works and resolving routine issues.

Working closely with contractors, external agencies and internal teams, you’ll coordinate works, verify outcomes and maintain accurate asset data. You’ll support planned and cyclical maintenance programmes, assist with investment planning, and lead procurement exercises in line with policy.

A key part of the role is ensuring tenant safety compliance across gas, fire, asbestos, damp & mould and other statutory areas, providing technical support and maintaining accurate registers.
