Our client is a firm member of the Electricity Transmission industry, specialising in strategic investment in offshore electricity transmission systems across Europe.
This exciting role covers the life cycle management of existing offshore transmission assets.
As the newly appointed Asset Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the Technical Director and General Manager in managing the transmission portfolio, focusing on the day-to-day asset management of a specific portfolio, ensuring business objectives are met, including providing timely and accurate reports to the Board.
You will be exposed to a wide variety of technical and commercial asset management issues, requiring significant industry, regulatory, engineering, and commercial knowledge, along with the ability to manage outsourced operations and maintenance service providers.
The role also requires knowledge of the System Operator Code, electricity industry standards, regulations, and contract management. Additionally, the Asset Manager will assist the Senior Asset Manager in developing the firm's asset management knowledge, including commercial contracts, to support existing businesses and future investments.
There will also be opportunities to assist in developing tenders and conducting due diligence for new investment opportunities.
Key tasks include but are not limited to:
- Asset management of UK offshore transmission systems and future projects, including ensuring compliance with project agreements, statutory/regulatory requirements, and health, safety, security, environment, and asset management processes.
- Managing outsourced Operations and Maintenance (O&M) providers.
- Producing and maintaining the risk register, focusing on operational risks.
- Reviewing lifecycle work plans for inspections, surveys, and maintenance by the O&M provider.
- Chairing monthly O&M provider meetings.
- Managing incident reviews and providing recommendations for operational incidents and asset failures.
- Identifying performance trends and implementing management actions.
- Managing additional work to ensure cost-effectiveness, timeliness, and quality.
- Overseeing outage management in conjunction with the O&M provider and Energy System Operator.
- Managing health, safety, environmental, and asset management audits and reporting findings.
- Acting as Senior Authorized Person and Control Person under RES (Athena) safety rules.
- Reporting to lenders, insurers, regulatory authorities, etc.
- Stakeholder management and technical review of reports.
- Supporting the development of offshore transmission asset lifecycle management plans.
- Providing technical advice to group commercial staff.
- Evaluating technical reports from O&M providers, OEMs, and industry bodies.
- Representing the company with regulators and industry bodies.
- Assisting in the development and tendering of future projects.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
- Degree in engineering (preferably electrical) or equivalent.
- Experience with electricity transmission technology and related technologies.
- Experience managing contractors, contracts, and negotiations.
- Ability to develop asset management strategies using condition monitoring and reporting tools.
- Understanding of key business issues impacting electricity transmission assets.
- Ability to build effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Project management qualification.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., IET).
- Experience with offshore transmission, subsea cables, and their condition monitoring.
- Knowledge of electricity regulation and NETSO.
- Experience with major construction contracts and project financing.
- IOSH/NEBOSH qualification.
