Job summary

Asset Investment & Performance Manager

We are seeking an experienced Asset Investment & Performance Manager to lead investment planning and decision-making across a regional asset portfolio.

Working closely with Planning, Engineering, Capital Delivery, Finance and Operations, you will ensure investment programmes are evidence-based, affordable, deliverable and aligned with long-term asset management objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and prioritisation of asset investment programmes, aligned with regulatory obligations, service targets, business strategy and customer outcomes.
• Act as asset owner representative, providing leadership through solution development, options appraisal, investment cases and governance gateways.
• Prioritise asset interventions using asset health, risk, performance and cost data.
• Sponsor capital schemes and ensure robust investment papers, governance and programme oversight.
• Oversee asset lifecycle management, balancing performance, risk, resilience and cost.
• Work with Operations and Engineering to validate investment needs and ensure recommendations reflect operational requirements.
• Collaborate with Planning and Finance to ensure investment decisions are evidence-based, affordable and aligned with long-term plans.
• Develop and monitor performance measures to improve asset insight, investment quality and delivery confidence.
• Lead teams in applying asset health, risk and performance data to investment and mitigation decisions.
• Lead benefits realisation reviews to assess investment outcomes and inform future priorities.
• Identify deteriorating asset performance and develop proportionate investment or mitigation plans to manage risk within agreed tolerances.

Experience & Skills

• Senior management experience in asset management or infrastructure investment within a regulated environment.
• Proven experience developing, prioritising and governing capital investment programmes across a regional or asset portfolio.
• Experience applying risk-based and performance-led approaches to investment decision-making.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders and contributing to regulatory, assurance and governance processes.
• Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management, investment planning and portfolio prioritisation.
• Understanding of regulatory, performance and risk drivers influencing infrastructure investment.
• Ability to translate asset health, risk and performance data into clear investment recommendations.
• Strong analytical skills, including options appraisal, cost-benefit analysis and investment justification.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Asset Management, Environmental Science or a related technical discipline.
• Professional accreditation such as IAM, CIWEM, ICE or equivalent is desirable.
