North Yorkshire Councils is seeking an experienced Adult Health & Social Care assessor to coach and assess a caseload of learners across the county. You’ll plan learning, reviews, and assessments, using OneFile and Microsoft 365 to track progress and keep records.
You’ll work with the Lead IQA/Quality Team to ensure standards, safeguarding, and learner success, while maintaining strong relationships with learners, managers, and services.
Are you an experienced Adult Health & Social Care professional who enjoys supporting others to develop?
Perhaps you are already an assessor coach, or you may be looking for an opportunity to use your sector experience in a different way. You don’t need to be a qualified assessor coach to apply. If you have the right experience, values, and enthusiasm, we will support you to develop your assessor career with us.
Join our award-winning Qualifications Delivery Team, recognised by Ofsted as an Outstanding apprenticeship provider, and help colleagues in Adult Social Care achieve Health & Social Care qualifications that strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and practice.
This is a rewarding role where your support can make a real difference, helping learners achieve their goals while contributing to the development of North Yorkshire’s Adult Social Care workforce and the quality of support provided to our residents.
If you don’t yet hold an Assessor qualification such as CAVA/TAQA, we will fully fund and support you to achieve it.
You’ll receive a supportive induction, alongside training, shadowing, and mentoring from experienced colleagues, giving you the opportunity to build your confidence and develop into the role.
You’ll coach and assess a defined caseload of adult learners, providing individualised support and planning learning, reviews and assessments around learner and service needs.
Using OneFile and Microsoft 365, you’ll monitor progress, assess evidence, and maintain high-quality learner records, keeping learners and managers informed throughout their journey.
You’ll work closely with our Lead IQA/Quality Team to maintain high standards and meet awarding body and governing body requirements, including Safeguarding and Prevent.
Building positive and professional relationships will be at the heart of your role. You’ll work with learners, Registered Managers and teams to identify and remove barriers to learning, encourage progress, and celebrate learner achievement and success.
What matters most is your Adult Health & Social Care experience, your commitment to developing others and your motivation to learn.
You’ll hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in Adult Health & Social Care (or higher) and have relevant sector experience.
You’ll be someone who communicates confidently, builds positive relationships, and provides a high standard of customer care, with the organisational skills and attention to detail needed to support learners effectively.
You’ll be comfortable using digital systems, adaptable in your approach and confident managing your own priorities. You’ll also be able to meet deadlines and maintain accurate, high-quality records.
As you’ll be supporting learners and services across North Yorkshire, you’ll need to be flexible and agile, responding to the needs of a diverse workforce across a large and varied county.
We know flexibility matters. This is a hybrid and flexible role, giving you the opportunity to combine home working with working from one of our North Yorkshire Council office bases and visiting learners and services across the county when required.
You’ll have variety and autonomy in your working week while remaining part of a supportive and experienced team.
In addition to your salary, we offer a range of great benefits to help you financially and make life a bit easier.
These include:
Practical Assessment: w/c 16 th November 2026 TBC
Interview Date: 23 rd November 2026
Venue for Interview: Northallerton
You may see this role advertised across more than one location; you only need to apply once at the location which is most suitable for you as an office base.
