Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Leighton Buzzard is seeking an Assembly Technician to manufacture aerospace interior components in a low batch high mix setting.

You will join a small dynamic team, reading engineering drawings, maintaining traceability, and applying tools and adhesives to assemble parts, with opportunities for lean improvements and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Experience in precision machining and quality control.
  • Proficient with power/hand and mechanical tools.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components using hand tools, powered equipment, and aerospace adhesives.
  • Work with alloys, steels, plastics, fabrics, and leathers.
  • Read aerospace standard drawings and manufacturing docs.
  • Maintain traceability of all components and assemblies.
  • Package finished goods for road, sea, and air transport.
  • Follow all health and safety policies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment with proper duty of care.

We’re looking for a Assembly Technician to join our team and play a key role in the production of high-quality aircraft interior components. If you have a strong background in Manufacturing & machining, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for continuous improvement, we want you to be part of our innovative and growing company.

In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the manufacturing of a wide variety of aircraft interiors products within a low batch high mix manufacturing environment. The role will be working within a small dynamic team responsible for the assembly of spares components to meet required quality standards and satisfy customer demand in a busy Aerospace manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with a wide range of productions methods using, hand tools, motorised equipment, aerospace standard solvents and adhesives and application of various fasteners for the assembly of a wide variety of components.
  • Experienced in working with a wide range of materials such as (but not limited to) alloys, steels, plastics, fabrics and leathers.
  • Able to read and understand aerospace standard drawings and relevant engineering documentation used to ensure manufacturing adherence is maintained.
  • Maintain the traceability of all components and assembled parts.
  • Packaging of finished goods in line with industry standards for road, sea and air cargo.
  • Understands and fully complies with all company health and safety policies.
  • Always demonstrates a good duty of care and maintaining a safe working environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Precision and Quality Focus: Expertise in machine tooling, inspection, and a keen eye for producing components to exacting standards.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high skill set in the use of a variety of power/hand and mechanical tools.
  • Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and data.
  • Attention to Detail: High standards for precision and accuracy in machining and quality control.
  • EH&S Awareness: Understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements in a manufacturing setting.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Lean Manufacturing: Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Microsoft Office: Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to document and report on performance.
  • Process Improvement: Experience in leading or supporting process improvement projects.
