Job summary

Proactive Global is recruiting two Assembly Fitters for an established engineering manufacturer in Luton. You will assemble, inspect and test pumps, motors and rotating equipment to engineering specifications.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of mechanical fitting experience in manufacturing and a mechanical qualification, with strong drawing reading skills. The role includes shift work, training opportunities, and excellent pension/healthcare benefits.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of mechanical fitting experience in manufacturing.
• Qualification in a mechanical discipline.
• Confidence reading detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment, air-powered and electrical tools.
• Practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and willingness to work shifts.
• A completed craft apprenticeship (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Assemble and disassemble mechanical units.
• Read engineering drawings and follow quality plans.
• Rig and de-rig units.
• Use measuring equipment and complete dimensional/inspection reports.
• Pressure test components and record results.
• Prepare and paint units for despatch.
• Record operations on the ERP system.

You will work on industrial pumps, motors and rotating equipment, using your fitting skills to assemble, inspect and test units to engineering specifications.

What you will be doing:

• Assembling and disassembling mechanical units.
• Reading engineering drawings and following quality plans.
• Rigging and de-rigging units.
• Using measuring equipment and completing dimensional and inspection reports.
• Pressure testing components and recording results.
• Preparing and painting units for despatch.
• Recording completed operations on the ERP system.
• Maintaining a safe, organised working environment.

What you will bring:

• At least four years' mechanical fitting experience within manufacturing.
• A recognised qualification in a mechanical discipline.
• Confidence reading detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience using measuring equipment, air-powered tools and electrical tools.

A completed craft apprenticeship and experience with rotating assemblies would be advantageous.
