Job summary

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Assembler on behalf of one of our clients in Abingdon. The role is hands-on, supporting mechanical engineering services and project delivery within a workshop environment. Ex-military candidates are encouraged and all applicants will be considered.

The position involves assisting engineers, technicians and teams, handling materials, and maintaining safe work practices. Training will be provided for PPE and tools.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing, construction workshop, or similar environment desirable.
• Good practical and manual skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of carrying out manual work and handling materials.
• Basic understanding of workplace health and safety.
• BPSS Security Clearance or ability to obtain this.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move and organise materials and equipment.
• Prepare work areas, materials and equipment for engineering activities.
• Carry out general cleaning and housekeeping duties in the work areas.
• Assist with basic assembly, dismantling as supervised.

• Follow company health and safety procedures and correctly use required PPE.
• Report hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Assist with deliveries and storage of materials.
• Work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.

This role is predominantly a practical hands-on role. Supporting various teams & facilities in the provision of mechanical engineering services and assisting in the delivery of mechanical engineering project.
