Job summary

Semco Maritime is seeking a Trainee Systems Engineer in Westhill, Aberdeen for a full-time, permanent position. You will support control and automation projects from requirements through testing and commissioning, while working with experienced engineers to build knowledge in design, programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, fault diagnosis and project documentation.

This hands-on role offers structured training, exposure to customer and site environments, and opportunities to travel nationally,

Qualifications

• Will have obtained or working towards an HNC/D or a Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar Engineering subject.
• Experience working on engineering projects is preferred but not essential.
• Willing and available to work at company and customer premises as required.
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
• Undertake and actively participate in training, mentoring and professional development programmes.
• Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering team.
• Assist in preparing technical documentation, reports and project records.
• Support business development by providing technical input and participating in team discussions.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of design specifications under guidance of experienced engineers.
• Assist with programming, testing and commissioning of control and automation systems.
• Support configuration and testing of HMI and SCADA packages.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving control system faults remotely and on-site.
• Contribute to system requirement specifications and interface documents.
• Assist with system integration, verification and acceptance test procedures.
• Support project activities across the project lifecycle.
• Be willing to travel nationally, internationally and offshore when required.
