Job summary

Mercure Manchester Norton Grange Hotel and Spa is seeking a Commis Chef to support the kitchen brigade with ingredient preparation and general duties. You will assist the Chef de Partie by measuring ingredients, preparing meats and vegetables, and helping with salads and sauces while ensuring quality and timely completion of tasks.

Responsibilities include receiving deliveries, inventory checks, proper storage of items, and maintaining clean and sanitary workstations in a busy hotel kitchen.

Qualifications

• Commis Chef eager to learn and work efficiently in a kitchen setting.
• Ability to follow instructions and comply with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measuring meal ingredients for the Chef de Partie.
• Preparing meal ingredients, including seasoning meats and washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
• Preparing basic salads and sauces as directed by the Chef de Partie.
• Receiving deliveries and verifying items match orders and quality.
• Taking inventory of supplies and flagging low stock.
• Discarding expired or spoiled items stored in stock rooms, fridges and freezers.
• Performing basic cleaning duties and keeping workstations sanitized.
• Plating and presenting meal items as instructed by the Chef de Partie.
