Job summary

Milk Education is seeking an Aspiring Clinical Psychologist – SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs. You will work with therapists and educational psychologists, gaining practical experience in mental health and therapeutic education.

You will provide emotional and academic support, implement education and behaviour plans, support wellbeing, and build trusting relationships.

Qualifications

• Graduates in Psychology or related fields, or non-graduates with relevant youth work experience.
• Strong interest in working with vulnerable young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach with de-escalation ability.
• Experience with SEMH or youth offending is desirable but trained.

Pay: £108 to £115 per day
Days: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Location: Slough

About the Role

Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience before pursuing a career as a Clinical Psychologist? Join our team as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a specialist school that supports pupils with a range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs. You'll work alongside therapists, educational psychologists, and SEN specialists, gaining invaluable practical experience in mental health and therapeutic education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emotional and academic support to pupils with SEN needs.
• Implement individual education and behaviour plans.
• Support wellbeing and therapeutic interventions.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students.

What We're Looking For

• Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields.
• Non-graduates with relevant experience in youth work, mentoring, or social care are also encouraged to apply.
• A strong interest in working with young people who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system.
