Job summary

Heritage Portfolio, part of Sodexo Live!, is offering an Apprenticeship for a Commis Chef in Scotland. You will learn in a busy kitchen, supported by experienced chefs, and work towards a Chef Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 5 over about 12 months.

You do not need prior professional kitchen experience. The program includes practical training, masterclasses and workplace assessments, with Diploma upon completion and paid work experience.

• Interest in food and developing a career as a chef.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a professional kitchen.
• No prior professional kitchen experience required; positives attitude and reliability.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and delivery of high‑quality food across venues.
• Assist chefs with washing, chopping, weighing and portioning ingredients.
• Learn to cook and present food to required standards under supervision.
• Follow menus, recipes and hygiene procedures and contribute to safe kitchen operations.
