Job summary

West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre in Leeds is seeking an inspirational Class Teacher to lead the Aspire Pathway for learners with autism, severe learning difficulties and complex communication needs.

Permanent position from January 2027 with multiple sites across West Leeds. The role involves building secure relationships, promoting communication, regulation and independence throughout the day, and using the Engagement Model and Total Communication strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with autism and SEND.
• Ability to build secure relationships and promote communication.
• Experience in an all-age special school setting desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead a class in the Aspire Pathway.
• Support learners with autism and SLD through engaging, play-based learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues across West SILC to adapt the curriculum.

West SILC is seeking an inspirational and creative teacher to lead a class in our Aspire Pathway. We are an all-age special school working across several sites in West Leeds. Each pathway provides a curriculum designed around the needs, strengths and aspirations of its learners.

Aspire supports learners with autism, severe learning difficulties and complex communication needs. Its highly individualised curriculum uses the Engagement Model, play-based and experiential learning, Total Communication and carefully planned sensory support. We are looking for a teacher who can build secure relationships, recognise progress in small steps and promote communication, regulation and independence throughout the day.
