Job summary

Toppesfield Limited is seeking an experienced Asphalt Supervisor to join our Operations Team covering the Suffolk and Essex region. You will manage daily site operations and support Contracts Managers in delivering surfacing projects.

The ideal candidate will have construction management qualifications, SSSTS/SMSTS, a CSCS card, and hands-on experience with asphalt and road laying, plus strong communication skills to coordinate with clients and crews on site.

Qualifications

• SMSTS (minimum SSSTS).
• A valid CSCS card.
• Experience in asphalts and road laying.
• Be a good communicator.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day site operations for surfacing project.
• Develop work plans, assist in creating project programmes, and place orders for materials.
• Plan works, assist in developing work programmes and place orders for materials.
• Lead daily briefings and maintain on-site presence with Crew/Foreman.
• Supervise to meet contract specs and quality standards; minimise remedial actions.

Role Description:

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Supervisor to join our Operations Team in the Suffolk and Essexregion. You will manage daily site operations and assist our Contracts Managers in delivery of surfacing projects.

Role Responsibilities:

Project Management

• Oversee day-to-day site operations for surfacing project
• Develop work plans, assist in creating project programmes, and place orders for necessary materials.
• Plan works, assist in developing work programmes and place orders for materials
• Communicating effectively daily with Crew / Foreman by carrying out daily briefings and through on-site presence
• Supervise operations to ensure that work is completed to the highest standards, adhering to contract specifications and minimising the need for remedial actions.
• Monitor work progress to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address any potential issues or hazards
• Complete daily reports and submit them at the end of each visit, including copies of dimensions, supply issues, and waiting times.

Commercial

• Place accurate and timely orders for materials and equipment to ensure efficient production while balancing costs against client value and compliance with standards.
• Deliver on site works to managements programme, working within the constraints and specification of the contract

Leadership

• Lead and motivate on-site teams, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and contractors.

Safety

• Supervise and ensure all operatives fully comply and adhere with the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Report observations and near hits and assist in incident investigations, and conduct root cause analyses to ensure corrective actions are implemented and completed.
• Complete site-specific risk assessments to ensure that appropriate control measures are in place for safe work execution.

Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position within the infrastructure, highways, or contracting sectors. You will have:-

• Construction Management Qualification
• SMSTS (minimum SSSTS)
• A valid CSCS card
• Experience in asphalts and road laying
• Be a good communicator
