This role offers the chance to be part of a dedicated and trauma-informed team, working directly with young people with complex needs related to their life experiences and childhood adversity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working positively and respectfully with young people to promote good relationships and achievements.
  • Collaborating with a team to meet social, emotional, educational, and mental health needs.
  • Encouraging participation of young people in domestic tasks to develop self-care skills.
  • Writing review reports, risk assessments, and contributing to care plans.
  • liaising with parents and partner agencies to promote the best interests of the young people.

You will need:

  • SSSC conditions for Residential Child Care Worker fully met (e.g., SVQ 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or HNC/Academic equivalent).
  • Commencement of SVQ 4 in Children and Young People and/or a practice qualification in Management.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Residential Child Care Worker or related field with 1 year in childcare.
  • High standards of reporting and recording.
  • Experience in mentoring roles.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Category or equivalent meeting SSSC requirements.
