Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust seeks a Senior Pharmacy Assistant to support the aseptic and chemotherapy units, maintain stock levels, input orders, train staff, and ensure quality assurance and GMP/GDP compliance within Technical Services.

Applicants should have NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent, supervisory experience, and knowledge of Medicines Act, NHS policy, and regulatory guidelines. A DBS check is required. Core hours 08:00–16:30 with weekend shifts may be included.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of medicines legislation and guidance (Medicines Act, Misuse of Drugs Act).
• Understanding NHS developments including primary/secondary care and clinical governance.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate stock levels of medicines and consumables.
• Inputting orders into computer systems and processing disposals.
• Training of staff in cleaning, aseptic techniques and GMP/GDP procedures.
• Supervising pharmacy services and ensuring quality assurance in aseptic/oncology units.
