Job summary

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant for its Aseptic Unit. The post holder will have NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills and BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF).

Qualifications

Prior work experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy environment.
Calm and professional manner under pressure.
Desire to work in a service that contributes to patient care.
Team worker with good communication.
Oral and written communication skills.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
Organised, tidy and methodical.
Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
Eligible to work in the UK.
Willingness to comply with DBS requirements.

Responsibilities

Aseptic dispensing and manipulation of sterile and non-sterile products.
Gain knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice.
Receive and process prescriptions and orders.
Maintain stock and equipment; check expiry dates and rotate stock.
Support with cleaning for the unit using disinfectants.
Assist aseptic dispensing process after competence is demonstrated.
Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste per SOPs.
Participate in weekend/public holiday/extended hours pharmacy service.
Comply with Trust policies on security and patient confidentiality.
Carry out general duties: prepare bottles, packaging, cleaning equipment, order receipts, expiry checks, stock control.
Monitor fridge temperatures and related tasks.
Maintain records of workload and support audits.
Clean shelving and ensure tidy storage of pharmaceuticals.
