Job summary

MWL NHS Trust invites applications from a Pharmacy Technician to join the aseptic dispensing team. You will prepare injectable medicines under GMP/SOPs, use isolators, and manage stock within the Aseptic Dispensing Unit, ensuring correct labeling and documentation.

Under the supervision of an Authorized Pharmacist, you will contribute to clinical trials data, perform ward liaison tasks, and participate in late, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas as required. NHS experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Completed and passed a full NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services qualification
• Knowledge of GMP requirements in aseptic services
• Significant previous experience in Hospital Pharmacy
• Experience of working with computer systems
• Undertaken primary level training for aseptic personnel (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Assist in the dispensing of aseptically prepared products, usually intravenous injections or infusions, in accordance with GMP and SOPs
• Use the appropriate specialised equipment for the dispensing of aseptic products, such as isolators, syringes, needles and other consumables
• Assist in the receipt of prescriptions, accurately and according to safe working practices
• Take part in ward visits, liaise with ward staff and pharmacists regarding patients' requirements
• Prepare and assemble supplies of aseptically prepared injectable products for delivery to wards and departments
• Prepare and set up aseptic products and ensure correct labeling and documentation
• Enter and prepare clean rooms, monitor tests, report problems to supervisor
• Assist in providing high quality aseptic pharmaceutical dispensing service including PN, cytotoxic chemotherapy, CIVAs, and other products
• Ensure correct volumes and additives; monitor stock and expiry dates
• Comply with QC monitoring, labeling, and sample submission for sterility testing
• Ensure adequate protective clothing and clean room hygiene
• Label products, heat seal, and prepare for final pharmacist check
• Maintain fridge temperatures and safe storage of medicines
• Co-operate with staffing within the ADU and assist in department documents
• Use computer systems for drug issuing and data storage
• Assist the department in training rotational staff and supporting research governance
