Job summary

ASD Teaching Assistant role in Lambeth, working in a primary school with a high needs ASD class. You will support 6-10 pupils, many non-verbal, assisting with communication, learning, sensory regulation and daily development.

Experience with Makaton or PECS is highly desirable. The school seeks a patient, resilient candidate to work with a small team of TAs and the class teacher on a full-time basis.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism in a primary school setting.
• Ability to support non-verbal pupils using ASD approaches such as Makaton/PECS.
• Willingness to travel to a Lambeth primary school five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Work within a high needs ASD class supporting approximately 6-10 pupils.
• Support pupils with communication, learning, sensory regulation and day-to-day development.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and two other Teaching Assistants to provide consistent, individualised support.
• Help pupils access learning, develop communication, manage sensory and emotional needs and build independence.
