Job summary

Remedy Education are looking for a patient and enthusiastic ASD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school based in Plumstead. This role is ideal for someone who has experience supporting pupils with autism, communication needs or additional learning needs.

The school are looking for a reliable and proactive Teaching Assistant who can support students with their learning, confidence, behaviour and daily routines.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with ASD or SEN.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with communication and learning needs.
  • Good behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Experience in a school, care, youth work, mentoring or childcare setting is desirable.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to get involved.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism and additional needs throughout the school day.
  • Work 1:1 and with small groups to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Help pupils access classroom activities and follow structured routines.
  • Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Assist teachers with adapted resources and learning tasks.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Provide a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff.
