Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students with ASD in a South East London secondary school. The post focuses on Years 7 and 8, with 1:1 and small group work in KS3/KS4.

You will join a supportive team and contribute to inclusive education, drawing on ASD knowledge, PECS, and Makaton to assist learning and engagement. The role is temporary with a competitive daily rate.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary or Secondary School.
  • Experience with students on the ASD spectrum.
  • Able to work in Key Stages 3 and 4 and support 1:1 or small groups.
  • Good literacy and numeracy, proactive and professional.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with ASD in KS3/KS4 on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Work within a large multi-skilled team under strong SEND leadership.
  • Promote inclusion and adapt support to varying student needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff to monitor progress and behaviour.

An small Secondary School in South East London, Plumsted are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support a students with ASD in Years 7 and 8.

Person Specification
  • You will need to have worked as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary or Secondary School and have specific experience working with students on the ASD spectrum
  • Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply as the school could offer opportunity to develop the role into a position with responsibility for a team.
  • Ideally you will have experience of working in a mixed ability primary or secondary School.
  • If you have worked in Key Stage 2 in primary Schools and Key Stages 3 - 4in Secondary Schools before then this would be an ideal role for you
  • You will have good ASD knowledge and some experience of PECS and Makaton
  • Ability to work well as part of a large multi skilled team.

  • Bright, energetic individuals who either have experience working in secondary schools or who are educated to degree level and have an interest in working with SEN children/young people are very successful at this school
