Job summary

Long Term Futures are working with an inclusive primary school in Hammersmith & Fulham to recruit a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Early Years and Key Stage 1. The role will involve supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including pupils with communication difficulties, sensory needs and challenges with emotional regulation.

The successful candidate will provide a combination of 1:1 support, small group interventions and classroom assistance, helping

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD or additional needs.
• Experience in Early Years or Key Stage 1 preferred.
• Ability to maintain structure, routine and consistency.
• Patient, nurturing and confident with communication challenges.
• Experience with PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism or speech and language interventions beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for children with autism
• Supporting communication, speech and language development
• Encouraging learning through structured activities and play-based provision
• Using visual timetables, now-and-next boards and other autism-specific strategies
• Supporting sensory needs, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Helping pupils manage transitions and daily classroom routines
• Encouraging independence, social interaction and engagement with peers
• Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider SEND team
