Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, or a relevant health/social care background.
• Proven hands-on experience supporting children or young people with autism.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply immediately).
• Two verifiable professional references from recent roles.

Responsibilities

• Create a calm, predictable, and low-arousal learning environment.
• Implement structured teaching approaches (e.g., TEACCH, PECS, or visual timetables).
• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions focused on social communication, emotional regulation, and life skills.
• Use tailored communication methods (now-and-next boards, social stories, emotion cards).
• Collaborate with therapists and teachers to embed EHCP targets into activities.
• Observe and record pupil progress to inform future planning.
• Support safe transitions between activities and environments.
